Default Old thread rehashing

Seems that lately I've been reading a post only to find it is an old one pulled out of the archives. Don't get me wrong, sometimes something can learned from these old posts, but it seem to me that these people might be better off starting. A thread of their own. Yesterday, I was looking at a post in the "for sale" section only to find it was for a listing from last year. Am I missing something here?

Maybe the person who resurrected it has seen all the flaming that someone gets for starting a new thread on something that has already been hashed over.

Most topics involving Harley-Davidson motorcycles have more than likely been covered at least 10 times in the past. Some members take it upon themselves to bash newer members for starting new threads and rehashing problems that could possibly have been fixed simply by doing a search and reading a past thread.

Others get a kick out of pointing out how old a thread is when it's brought back to life to comment on a subject.

There's no pleasing everyone, so just do what you want to do, and let others do what they want to do. It's the internet. If you don't like something that's posted, you don't have to reply. A lot of the members here don't understand that concept. They would probably be better off turning off the computer for a while and watching reruns of SOA.

Forums and movies have a great deal in common!!! So much has already been said or done, all you have left is remakes.

In the User Profile Options area you can set the 'age' of threads you see ... this may help .. cheers

EDIT: Sorry this doesn't work .. or works in a way I don't understand .. tried to set so only last 75 days threads were shown and nada .. still showed old threads if they had a recent post ... some other forums using different software have a date by the OP post which is really helpful .. only one of many things I dislike about forum software here ....

Most of the stuff on any forum is just rehash. New posts are just tweaks and updates of older stuff or people looking for info.

OP, time or date don't matter it's your project that counts. Seek and share information on the forum(s), take time to understand what seems contradictory then let the seed germinate. Followers accept your ideas and you pay for your mistakes.
