Use PVC pipe to mock up spacers..easy to cut and try...
Don't put tire on wheel while mocking up... much lighter
that way.

I used the pcv pipe method. Works like a charm. Just make sure that you get the tire centered and that the belt/chain is rolling true while the wheel is spun forward. Grease is not necessary on the sealed bearings but I do recommend using some anti seize on the axle. If you don't you may have a hard time getting it back out next time you put new rubber on!

If you are using left side drive and using a longer compensator / inner primary spacerand the gearbox moved overwith an offset mount then you will probably find the rear wheel will be offset to the right compared to the front wheel.

I would say start by getting the caliper centered to the rotor then getting the wheel as far to the left as possible while keeping clearance for the belt. Put a straight edge against the pulley to make sure it is running parallel to the belt for a rough initial alignment.

Don't know how far you've got but you might find you need to cut the right hand gearbox mounting stud flush to miss the right hand shock.

Thanks for the tip oil slick I tried to line up the wheel yesterday and you are right it needs to be over to the right (see Pic) but I cannot seem to get it far enough over no matter what I do and the belt is to tight with no way to adjust it the axle head will not even go into the slot If I remove the pulley spacer from the wheel the belt hits the tire if I put the spacer back the wheel is way to far over anyone have any ideas how to fix this I am about to give up on the wide tire but I already cut the frame. Anyone here ever puta wide tire on a pre 99 let me know if you had these troubles.

I have been helping to do my buddys 1995 softail 240mm kit. Almost finished. It has PM wheels and the rest of the kit came from Krooners. Road tested it a couple of days ago and all seems good.

From what I can tell from your pic, it looks as if you need a pulley spacer but not the one you've got. The tyre needs to be as close to the belt as possible (still having a finger or so of clearance)

For the 240 tyre we didn't use any pulley spacer but one was included which was about 1/4" thick. I think this was for the 250mm tyre.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
