True. Plus, if you lean forward, better penetration.

I'm not a safety sheep so I choose a helmet that fits my need and not give my mandatory helmet state one red cent more in any violations for their coffers.
With that, check this one out- works great and they can't nail you for revenue- a win win.

Wow, so the vast majority of head impacts occur right on the jaw while most areas covered by a 1/2 helmet rarely see impact ?? Very interesting indeed. These stats must be a FF helmet Mfgr.'s dream come true.

Think I'll just get myself one of those Hannibal Lechter / Jacques Plante goalie masks .

They are what they are. Just enough to satisfy the law, since I too have to sport a DOT approved lid...

Same study as other previous diagram. German study.

Looks to me like you have about a 60% chance of impact from your forehead down to your jaw in any given accident.

Not odds that I'm going to bet on.

That study was done by a safety organization, and has zero connection to the helmet industry. Besides, there are no "FF helmet manufacturers", there are only helmet manufacturers that also make FF models.

Your decision, obv.

A friend was leading a ride last fall. Inexperienced rider trying to keep up with the group went wide on a curve and hit a guardrail. Half helmet. My friend said the guy's face was a total mess.

How can anybody think some dumbass beanie looks cool? All it is is a sign that says: "I'm required by law to wear a helmet, so I'll show them by wearing the most worthless helmet I can find, and look like a fool while I'm doing it".

And I'm not putting my skull inside a $99 helmet, either.

I've been riding since 1974 and have mostly worn 1/2 or 3/4 helmet. The most expensive helmet I ever had was about $150.00. A few months ago I did a great deal of research on helmets. After giving it a lot of thought I invested in an Arai full face. I have been pleasantly surprised how much I like this helmet so far. The real test will be this summer when it's hot and humid outside.
