The Deuce was very popular and is stillone of Harley's bestlooking bikes (although, some people didn't like the rear fender), but the softail standard with it's much lower price killed it. Dealers don't bring them in because the $2,300 you save buying the Standard, will get youa reasonable start on your customizing(pluswith the standard you get200 tire) and that has become very appealing to customers.
They are also discontinueing the Softtail Standard.
True Dawson, butI was talking about why sales of the Deuce dropped so severely over the last couple of years.

They look good, no doubt about it. But I'd rather pay less money and be able to have a phat *** tire. I also like their pipes better than any other bike's stock ones, but I'd end up changing them anyway so who cares. I am interested in what they come out with to replace it in the 2008 line.

I have an Anniversary Deuce. I get more compliments on it than any other bike I have owned. It does not need much accessorizing to be cool.

Buy one if you like it.

Couple of reasons the Deuce sells poorly

Rear Fender...alot of folks don't like the look

MSRP...darn things are PRICY!!!

Gas tank shape......some think it looks like a Sportster custom gas tank.

Too bad she is going away....but something has got to go, just like the standard.

Any HD that is called lovely....deserves to be dropped.

Fact.
Well if we're getting into twisting words... I would rather be lovely than just standard

I love my Deuce b/c it has saved me a little money as far as accesories go(not for the lack of parts either). It has the Wide Chrome front end, stretched tank & nice seating posistion...

Deuce parts have been a steady 18 percent of our retail chrome exchange program. No drop in sales has been recognized since inception. Second best seller has been Fatboys.

i think dropping the deuce is a bad idea, here's why.....the deuce has a full chrome front end, chomed out motor, pull-back bars, and a stretched tank all stock! it is the perfect platform for a custom pro-street type of bike. if they were smart, heres what they would do...or anyone that buys one............put a 200 on there...fits on with a wheel and some spacers and the stock fender. then do some cool drag bars, pipes and lower the back to give it the pro-street look....all simple things that dramatically improve a bike that is really half-way there already....so simple.....

Just my opinion but I think the stretched tank and rear fender

are definently the culprits to its demise
