Default Squeaking when I downshift

Everytime I come to a stop I hear a loud squeal or squeak coming from the front end of the bike.

I thought it was the quality brakes that the MoCo puts on the bikes, but I have since discovered it is coming from my shifter or linkage. It only happens when I begin to downshift, Anyone else have this happen? What is the fix? I ride an 04 Electra Glide Classic.

could possibly be the rubber bushings?

Maybe, but it seems more like a metal to metal squeak. Almost like brake squeal, but it is definatley coming from the shifter or linkage.

Mine does that once in a while. I squirt a little silicone spray on the bushing and that stops it. I've noticed the same thing with my clutch lever, squeeking at the bushing.

Check your drive belt, could be loose.

Check the final drive belt..my Heritage did the same thing...turned
out that the belt was loose rubbing on some piece of plastic underneath.

Fixed it...cut the plastic piece...probably should not have now that
I think about it...was kinda a good noise to listen for.

Yeah it is probably the belt. Needs tightening.
