Do you use riding rain gear or do you just get soaked while riding in the rain?
No need to get soaked when there is rain gear available.
For $50 Jafrum has rain gear...might be bulky but the quality is good.

I've had quite a few rain suits over the years but now I have a lightweight Harley suit that stays in the saddlebag, and a heavier Tour Master rainsuit that I use with my other bikes. My riding boots are Goretex, so I don't need booties. I was riding up the East Coast into Canada several years ago and spent three days riding in cold rain, in a $10.00 rain suit. I got more serious about rain gear after that.
My jackets are fairly waterproof (sno-seal on the leather one);carry an extra quart of oil to make slicks out of my jeans if it gets real wet out.

I bit the bullet and bought a set of H-D HiViz rain gear, bright orange. Best part, I got it here on the classified forum at a very good price.
Took it on my 2,000 mile ride through the central Sierra Nevada in September, and rode 12 solid hours in steady rain. Kept me completely dry and warm, except for a slightly damp crotch, due mainly to sitting in a puddle of water for 12 hours. Really can't complain.
Oh, and make sure to get the boot gaiters. Huge. Really. Ok, they look dorky, but get them anyway.
It's always in my saddlebag.

I have the HD Hi-Vis. Bought the set in Aug 06 and used it for winter riding also which wore it out a little faster. Bought a new set earlier this year and use it only for rain. The old set is still good for winter riding as a wind infiltration suit.
The original was $100 which was 20% off with a bike purchase. The new one with 20% off was about $145. There was 9 years of inflation I guess.
The HD rain suit never leaked until this summer were some sealing strips on the seams finally gave way. I tour extensively and used the suit very often. On my Alaska trip it rained 9 of the 14 days.
With my experience with it I would not even consider another brand. It is made by Frogg Togs I think. I did price their comparable suit and it cost more and not near as Hi-Vis.

I have been riding many decades and have always had a rain suit. Riding wet can get damned uncomfortable if the rain comes with a cold front!
The current rain suit is a HD and is always in my saddlebag. It has been through some torrential downpours with nary a leak.

I always keep Frogg Toggs in my saddlebags. I'm not one to purposefully go riding in the rain, but I have never been on a tour that I didn't get wet. Staying dry increases my enjoyment a lot. When you're touring with an itinerary, sitting out the rain for long periods beneath an overpass just doesn't work. You want to get somewhere today so you can get somewhere tomorrow. Suit up and go.
