accident 03 Roadglide
Well it finally happened, a jerk went thru stop sign as I was almost thru and hit me in the *** end and knocked me over. when he finally looked over hood wondering whats going on he seen me in grill and stopped. I had a beautiful 03 Roadglide i bought myself new when I retired. Its now at a certified HD mechanics shop But since i have not had an accident in 38 years I don,t know how and what to expect. The mechanic said the body pcs have to come from Harley only and he will inspect it and Insurance agent also will come. what else can I expect or should know?
thanks
thanks
Hope you are ok.
If you have a good insurance company they should settle with you then deal with the other person in most states. Pretty much a open and close deal on your bike.
NADA vs fixing. Likely an 03 any major damage or frame damage ect will total it.
If the budget allows one RG owner to another the 2016 RGU is an amazing bike.
Each generation of the RG has gotten better the 2016 Rushmore was a major leap in every way. My 2011 RGU went to the scrape auction.
Medical side of it is a different game.

Since you didn't talk about your injuries, hopefully that means they aren't that bad.
In any case, get to a doctor ASAP. Make sure to have the doctor note everything. If it hurts now and it didn't hurt before the accident, that needs to go on the medical report.
Bike stuff will get sorted.

I have been in one accident & from my experience in that situation I wish they had totaled it.
For one your bike isn't going to be worth what it was pre-accident after being in an accident & having body work done to it.
For two having to wait for all the work to be completed before hitting the road again =*)

For sure get to the doctor, if you have anything wrong pop up in the future from this incident, it's good to have an initial doctor visit on record.
Not sure about how things work in your state, but here in MN, if the other driver ran a stop sign they'd likely be found at fault. Did the police come, and/or did you file a police report? You insurance will likely want to see that. If the police did come, do you know if they cited the driver? If so, that would weigh heavily in your favor.
About a year ago, someone ran a red light a hit my car. The police issued her a citation for the act and ultimately she was found liable for my car. The car repair was almost $10,000 but they paid to fix the vehicle as it is worth considerably more.
A lot will depend on what the cost to repair your bike is vs it's book value. Typically they won't pay to fix the vehicle if it's close to book value, they'll total the vehicle and issue you a check for a value that is supposed to be what the bike is worth. Report this to your insurance company asap if you have not already done that, even if you think the other vehicle was at fault. Your insurance agent should be able to keep you in the loop on the claims process as it unfolds. Glad to hear you appear uninjured, good luck going forward.
