Default Engine guards

I own a 2014 Road King and am thinking on putting either leather or hard lower fairings on my bike as well as saddlebag guard pouches. Many I see that are guaranteed to fit my bike are fairly expensive but a year back to 2013 and/or different touring model, like an Ultra Classic, are more common, and sometimes cheaper. I'm not sure if the style, shape or thickness of the bars have changed, but can I use a different year and models items like this?

The front engine guard is the same from 09 & up. The saddlebag guards changed in 14; they drop down along the top front edge of the saddlebag allowing more clearance for the passenger's leg (calf).
Use one of the part finders to check part numbers to see what changed.

I ended up having to replace my bag guard bags on my 14 SG. my buddy tried to put them on his 06 electra. Didn't fit because the old style bag guard bars are taller.
