Default 05 Road King Question...

A friend is looking at a 05 Road King Classic. It has been upgraded with the Screaming Eagle 103 and a Six Speed. My question is I thought that a 88 inch motor could only go as big as a 95 inch without doing case mods. So im kinda confused. The owner says it was just cylinders done at a local dealer. Can anyone tell me if this is possible?

If it was just cylinders and done at a local dealer, it will be a 95".
They probably put 103 cylinders on, That only gives 95" on a 88" motor.

As far As I know,, as you said, 95BB kit is what most do with splitting the cases...

seems I do remember someone makes a 96 or 97'' kit, but I am not sure who.. maybe S&S ???

Harley used to sell a 103 upgrade kit , that included stroked flywheels and the 95 cu in cyls and pistons. It was in the screaming eagle catalog up to a few years back. You can take it to 97 inches buy changing the cylinders, but you won't notice any difference over a 95. Ported heads and cams, with hi-compression pistons will wake it up. Either way you spend your money, you'll never see it again if you do any of the above mods.,,,,

Well the bike belonged to my Neighbor who sold it to my friend. He swears it is a 103...I guess I will keep my mouth shut. He says it made 103 HP on the dyno. Who knows I know it runs very well. It does have a 55mm Throttle body on it because the old one is in a box.

Well I found out the rest of the story. When the bike was new in 05 it was a Dog. So he had the local dealer pull the 88 inch motor and five speed trans. out and put in a Brand New 103 Screaming Eagle motor with a 6 speed trans. So that makes way more sense.

Did that when the bike was new? That couldn't have been cheap.

It was $5500 but he sold the 88 inch to someone in Canada for 3K so $2500 in the end. Made a big difference in the bike.
