So for those who have had a TC88B and a 96B or 103B, are they as smooth?
I'm wondering since it seems a 96 or 103 has more rotating mass than an 88 with the same? counter-balancers.
Is that the case? Or does it even matter?
While we're at it, how about the 95" conversion? As smooth as the 88?
All I can say is my 96B is very smooth. I am no expert but I don't thing the rotating mass changed much. even if it had, I would think HD would have compensated by revising the counter balancers.
Ive had both the 88 and 96 and both were very smooth. Harley intentionally leaves some vibebration in them due to the whole harley "feel" thing, but they were nice running motors.
You won't get a real "smooth" running V-twin on most bikes. Those smooth running motors are all "over square". Thats when the bore is bigger then the stroke. Like the old DZ 302 chevy motors 4" bore w/ 3" stroke. GSXR's after 1996 are all butter smooth and run over square motors.
My brother has an '06' 88B and I have an '09' 96B. I've ridden both and can't tell any difference in smoothness or power except for the six speed tranny. Good running engines, both of them.
