I've have a 2012 CVO Road Glide,Today someone told me, that worked at a Harley dealership that by using CD's burnt on your computer in MP3 or what I believe is digital format, and then using them in your Harmon / Kardon that this wreck the HK system. This can't possible be true. I'd have to carry 100 cd's plus what's the advantage of having a stereo that can play condensed music files and then not be able to use this. Any help on the subject would be greatly appreciated. Computers and downloading is not my expertise.
Thanks Jonnierock

I burn my own CD's and have for years ... I've used them in my 2009 FLHTCU since I bought it new on day one ... I've never had a problem ... I'm a bit of a music junkie and have well over 100,000 tunes including over 6,000 complete CD's in *.mp3 format
complete bs. if it were true, there would be 10,000 warnings in your owner's manual warning you of impending death if you did it.
on the other hand, you give you all kinds of instructions on how to play them. seems counterproductive to tell you how to do something if it would be damaging, no?
jump drive doesn't work on a 2012, and to utilize a separate mp3 player you'd have to plug in to the aux input and then deal with all the extra cabling, mounting, etc. why do that when the cd drive will do what he needs, and have a little better sound quality while doing it?

Well that is pretty stupid. Automotive head units have been able to utilize a jump drive for a long time.
I use mp3 cd's all the time, in fact a regular music cd has never been played on my bike. The only issue Harley's head unit has with mp3 cd's is it does not support ID3 v2 tags. I first create a copy of my music files then convert all copied music file tags to ID3 v1 then delete the copied files once burnt to a disk. This is simply so I can see some of the music's details on the head units display.
