I wear Lee Parks gloves down to 55, below that I've never found anything better than the Fox Creek gloves, partially because you can still have decent feel, can still work the bike. That's down to 33degreesF / rain, below that I hide out
Big believer in heated vests, good temp range from 55 down to 33 without bulking up. Put em on right over a thin baselayer, all you need is a thin overlayer, even a jersey shirt is enough most of the time. After that, most helpful thing is wind protection, motorcycle jackets are drafty. I got a goretex windblocker jacket that was awesome but will admit walmart often stocks shelled fleece jackets that work about as well. So from outside to in -- synthetic baselayer, heated vest, long sleeve t shirt, windbreaker, smurf-blue aerostich suit. Top of the world, ma!

Riding all year in Maine really isn't an option......well....technically it is but you'd be stupid and your bike would look like crap and hate you forever. With that said......I'll ride in mid 30's weather before the 'white death' flies in non heated gear. I have pretty bony hands and the Harley brand leather gauntlet gloves work awesome for me on my Road King with just a windshield and no silly fairing helping.
