Here's a reminder for everybody - I went out for a ride after work Wednesday, was hoping the roads here would be in better shape by now... apparently they still haven't started repairing them from winter damage around here. Drilled a pothole and bent my front wheel pretty good. Needless to say I immediately went flat and all I could do was wait for a tow truck.
Anybody know a good place to get a replacement wheel?
Had the same thing happen to me about a year ago, but mine never went flat. It did however cost me close to 2K for a custom fat spoke wheel and wrapper fender. Fortunately for you those wheels are reasonably plentiful and can be had at a decent price. Well, unless you are like me and never satisfied...

I probably appear to be drunk when driving my truck on the roads around my house due to the amount of swerving I do to miss the deep potholes. On the bike it’s almost easier since I can skate in between them or ride the yellow line.
I did hit a pretty good one the other day on a ride that was camouflaged by a tree’s shadow. My girlfriend flew up off the pillion and I just yelled to stay holding on figuring I’d have a flat. I got lucky this time.
Just an observation but the "aspect ratio" ( I think that's the correct tire terminology) of the tire seems short or thin in relation to the wheel. In other words, the stiff, short tire design doesn't offer much protection for the rim when a road hazard is encountered. Although I am empathetic to your situation, sometimes style compromises utility and practicality in the real world of frost heaves and pot holes..

Hmmmm, no surprise that two of these posts are from forum members in the declining Empire State of NY. And as an added touch for me, my City of Syracuse is heading towards receivership because it's going broke. So the city streets here are more for dual sport riding than touring. We rode in Syracuse yesterday and called it quits after only 14-miles because we felt we needed kidney belts.
Damn that sucks, At least you kept the bike right side up. Stupid question, but does insurance cover that type of damage?

I like living on the PA border...I go there to ride because of that Road Construction season. They are actually fixing **** rather than putting a bandaid on it like the crappy “patch” jobs they do here year after year after year lol.

Correct, had the pothole caused a crash, the police collision report would say the cause was "speed too fast for conditions".
