I say kill all these hoofed rodents and feed the homeless.

Summertime and the riding's fine. Right now the fawns are getting very mobile and following Mom around. I've seen several and almost flattened one with the truck. To me this is a particularly dangerous time of year to ride. For some reason the deer seem to prefer the road edges and they are often lurking just out of sight. Plenty of carcasses around here, but they don't last long in the summer heat.

I love the stench of a dead deer hidden in the weeds as I ride through. Okay....maybe not so much.

I hate deer. We have some that practically live in our yard. Only one solution for biker safety that I know of:

This was my close call. About 2 seconds from clear rode to imminent collision. I was doing around 45. He pulled up just as I braked, otherwise boom.

If you were duck walking your bike on the highway, you would have had much more time to react.

Hey, friend, just saw your thread. I was out on a five day ride in the NW corner of Washington state. Deer are a constant threat in this part of the country. One of the riders had a flat, in the middle of a heavy residential area, and while we were waiting a doe and two fawns just ambled past, looked at us, and walked across the road. They're everywhere.

So glad you came out of it ok. Bumps and bruises will heal. Just from looking at the pics of your bike it really doesn't look bad at all, but as you said, if the frame is borked, then it's going to come down to the repair estimate. Looks like a nice ride, so good luck!

Again, glad you're ok. That's all that matters.

That was in India. Probably not something you would see in the US. Nonetheless, huge pucker factor. This is what the tiger was chasing. From the tiger's standpoint, they would feed the whole streak for a week.
