Default Rebuilding E-Glide?

So last monday night I hit a deer on route 81 in northern Pa. Walked away with a possible broken wrist, and some road rash on my L arm, thanks to God and good gear. Insurance man (Progressive) will be looking at the bike on Tues. If it's totaled , I'll be looking at new bikes, however if not, the insurance guy said we can get it towed to the local dealership to get it fixed. However thinking about rebuilding it myself, just wondering if anybody else has done this, how it went dealing with the insurance co. , etc.

thanx, Pauly

when dealing with the dealership they will charge you for an appointment for the estimate and then if its fixable you will prolly have to store it till they have all the parts on hand to fix it. Then you take it back in and they do the work. At least thats what they wanted me to do . I took mine to a local indy he made the estimate ordered the stuff and although it wasnt finished he had it ride able in a couple months (11k damage).. I just didnt want to do the work myself so i didnt even ask the insurance co .. Sometimes its better off left to the pros..

hey pauly , i hit a bear on rt 209 in ne pa and ins lady (progressive ) told me they might fix it, 03 flht, ended up being totaled . if the repairs are more than 80% of value of bike they will total it or if they think the frame is damaged . get all your reciepts together for chrome and acc. i was covered up to $3000.00. i tried to buy the wrecked bike back and couldn't because there was a lien on the title.i saw your accident on 16 news and looked like the front fairing was destroyed i'll bet they'll total it ,if not get a repair manual its not that hard if your mechanically inclined and have tools

Glad to hear you're alright. Winter's almost here. Might be a good project over the cold months in the old garage.
