All good advice here so far. I'd go one step further and document everything from the date and times of your phone calls, copies of e-mails, etc. PayPay dispute should be filed and let us know how it turns out.
One more thing, who did you get the pipes from on E-Bay? Post their seller ID.
I'm kinda going thru the same thing right now.I ordered a sissy bar touring bag from CycleLuggage.com.When I received the package it was the wrong bag.Thepacking sliphad the correct part #.It was drop shipped from a different location.I e-mailed the co. and had a phone call the next day.No questions asked, will send new bag out that day w/return UPS label for the wrong bag.
This is how customer service should be.
Dispute with E-Bay,Pay Pal or your CC co.
Good luck.
Well, I have had situations dealing with sellers who, after getting your money, act like they don't know you. I always have approached it being very polite and professional in my demeanor and most of the time they fix the problem quickly. The times I have been outwardly irritated toward the seller only resulted in them getting an attitude back at me, and they have my money and I have this piece of sh*t thing thats no good or not right. Who has the advantage now? Get my drift? Find out your time limit for reporting this to ebay and paypal (if this how you paid), and send them an email stating something like you have tried to resolve this and they show no resolve to do so. If they don't take care of this, you will be forced to report them to ebay/paypal for this. Check requirements, but I think you need to try and reconcile by phone. Use email and keep all emails for proof. The box that the stuff was shipped in probably came via UPS or one of the large carriers. It should have lots of proof of that. Those companys keep records and can verify the whens and wheres. Let the seller know you are a member of several huge websites for bikers and if this is not handled you will pass this along. I have had to resort to this and usually they make things right without having to actually report them to ebay/paypal. There have been times when I have had to resort to that, and by having proof (emailings) to back up my claims I have a 99.9% record of satisfaction. The one time I didn't was because the seller quit ebay and I couldn't find him. Thankfully it was for only $10. Be patient, tactful, don't threaten other than to report them or pass the word, and expect this could take some time to be resolved.
Had a slightly similar issue with my mustang seat from Ameican Classic Motors on E-bay. They sent the wrong seat. It did take quite a few phone calls/e-mails before we got everything squared away. Great prices on a good selection of accessories, but the return/exchange dept. is a little weak. Let them know you are getting your ducks in a row for a dispute. Should be enough to light a fire you know where...
I just bought pipes from a very large ebay power seller. I felt comfortable with them because they are a large setup.
I empathize with your problem. Many of us have been there, and you've gotten some very good advice from others in this thread.
However, to make this thread useful to anyone but yourself, it would be helpful if you would mention the name of this "very large eBay power seller" so your brother and sister riders can avoid getting into a similar situation with this company. That's a great part of the value of this board.
DO NOT DO THIS!!!! Put a negative remark on his buyers feedback. I had an issue resolved within 10 minutes when they saw the feedback report. They called me on the phone immediately.... DO NOT DO THIS!!!!
If you leave neg feedback, you may not be able to file a dispute. Neg feedback should be last resort. Ebay and Paypal generally take the side of the Buyer.
The seller that is bending me over big time is Americanclassicmotors.
Funny thing is that they have told me that I am only the second person to ever have received an incorrect item. Already in this thread, baseman received the incorrect mustang seat he ordered from the very same vendor.
I opened up a paypal dispute today. But, first, I sent them two more ebay emails asking them what the resolution is since they b.s.'d me all last week. No response to my emails at all. I then started the paypal dispute. Right after I clicked the submit button, low and behold I had an immediate email in my ebay account, not the paypal dispute as they were supposed to respond to. They threatened me with having to pay for the return shipping unless I dropped the paypal dispute. Such nice people, eh? Even in their threatening email, they still didn't mention anything about the problem we are having. Looks like i might loose my money if paypal doesn't give me a refund. In the mean time, it's going on 3 weeks since this began and I have a brand new flstsc in my garage with no pipes. I don't want to spend another 500 to buy from someone else until these knuckleheads refund my money so i'm not stuck with a new set to sell off. What a nightmare. Stay away from AmericanClassicMotors. Well, I take that back. I should say, roll the dice. But, if you get the old bait and switch from them, be prepared for a long dragged out battle to get your money back.
