After many years of running Metzler, NEVER again... they are making crap in Brazil and trying to cover it up... why do you think they can offer "buy one and get the second one free" at the rallys... They have major spec issues... stay away until they sort it out.

I've always liked ME880's but to be honest I only got 9,000 miles on my last rear ME880. I ordered a replacement for it in May '07 and a couple days later when I showed up to have it mounted they said "we're really sorry but the tire that came in is a Dunlop". I was a bit miffed at the time but needed the tire badly and told them to go ahead and put it on, figuring I'll replace it with an ME880 next time (I log 30,000 miles a year so it's nevertoo long between tire changes).

I've now got 16,200 miles on that rear Dunlop and to be honest I'm sticking with the Dunlops now that I've seen the excellent wear this tire gives me. I've had no trouble with performance/handling, so with the vastly better wear it gives me I'm staying with Dunlop now...

PS: I'm having the rear tire replaced now this week, the last bit of tread just wore awayyesterday so the new one is already in my garage waiting for me.

To make a short story long, my local HD shop will only install Dunlap tires. I ordered Metzler ME 880 on line. The local Yamaha dealer would mount and balance them if I took them off the bike. I removed and replaced both front and back wheels with the help of about3 beers. Rides betternow than when new. No more handle bar shake or vibration. The Dunlap on the rear was shot at 7600 miles. I do tend to ride a little hard from time to time. Very satisfied with the Metzlers.Price is also a factor for me. The Metzler's were cheaper by 20% more than thestealer wanted for the Dunlaps.
