If HD had a SALE on Parts/Acc I would buy now rather than later if

First glance - No surprises.But, WAITING v. NOT WAITING was the issue. Almost 10% said they would not buy right now, period. I think that is important because it shows there is no sensitivity to a reduction in price for a tenth of HDOs. This probably reflects the downturn in the economy - "I ain't buyin' nuttin right now." But over 80% would buy now rather than later if the part/acces was on sale (at different levels).

I know this was a very simplistic poll. What do you make of it?

 

I wouldn't fall for any gimmic, by HD. I can get parts at 20% off all day any day of the year, several source out there. I use Jenni Sapyta, now the GM at Tri-County HD Inc. Fairfield Ohio, (513) 874-4343.

 

Exactly, so right off the bat, you'd better be able to come up with something better than 20%

 

In Chicagoland there are about a dozen dealers in riding distance and theyeach seem to have 20% sales a couple times a year so it seems if you wait a fewweeks you can buy on sale.

Last Sat-Sun my dealer (closest to the house) had a 20% sale, pig roast, live music, free beer, etc. I went on Sat and I couldn't get near the place and it was a beautiful day and I wanted to ride more than hanging out in the dealership so I kept riding. I went back on Sun and they didn't have anything on my list in stock and had to order everything (all at 20% off). The parts guy said they had over 3000 sales on Sat, and they were out of things like batteries, that they typically never run out of. I went back on Friday to pickup my battery, and I could see they were still doing inventory and trying to figure out what to order replace thier missing stock.

 

I buy parts/acc when I need them regardless of price, if I'm browsing and something catches my eye I'll wait and see if it goes on sale, if it doesnt I'll still buy it.

 

Exactly. I normally get the 10% discount anyway. If something is $75.00 or more I will wait for a sale. HD dealers could do really well if they had sales more often IMO.

 

I buy it when I need it.if I want it ill also buy it but i usually wait a couple days. im kinda impulsive and in the past have got thing i really didnt want or need. Wife and I have a rule that anything (if not necessary) over 50 buck we atleast wait 48 hours till we buy.
