Default Ordering from Chicago HD...

So what's the story with Chicago HD? I want to order forwards for my FDXB and see they have 'em for $260...like $65 less than retail--whetherstraight from the MoCo or from my local dealer. How can they do this? Is there a catch (as in high S & H, etc.)? I mean, at first glance, it seems you'd be foolish not to buy from them!!!

They sell at 20% below MSRP. Which oughta tell ya how much of a mark up MSRP is, over actual cost

They offer 20% off for mail order. Plus depending on where you live you may not have to pay taxes, for me that's an extra 5% off. If your order is enough $ then no shipping charges.

Think of this way: I live in Virginia and they would never do business with me unless I mail order. More business brings in more revenue evenif the extra business is at a lower gross margin, it's all extra profit.

You should buy from them and anybody else that discounts. If we all pay full price then prices will go up. If we all buyon sale or at discount then prices will go down.Just think about what Wal-Mart does to it's competitors, they either lower their prices or are driven out of business.

My dealer, no names, (Portsmouth, Virginia) used to offer a 15% discount on members night. The place was always packed, then they stopped and the traffic flow slowed. I no longer buy "planned" parts from them. I only buy what I need in an emergency from them.

It's bad enough we have to pay full price or more for a bike but then they act like we owe them something for having an occasionl sale. TAKE THE DISCOUNT!

I buy almost all my hd parts through them. Only gripe I've had is sometimes it takes a little bit too long to ship. But otherwise, it is a dollar saver.

How about (local) dealer loyalty? Anybody feel strongly about this? I say that went out the door when I got gauged on the price of my bike (still worth every dollar to me though)!!!

But on a related note,I would be taking it to the local shop tohave the controls puton--hate to ruffle any feathers when I show up with out-of-town parts.

It has gotten so bad that one of the dealers here in northern VA will not install parts purchased somewhere else. Needless to say I will not be buy from themor having them ork on my bike at all. Most parts I will buy form online. The already low cost parts (ie less then $30) I will buy form a a dealer that treats me right.

Great place to buy, 20% off. Shipping takes longer but 20% off is worth the wait.

I went to my dealer the day after I bought my (brand new) SG, to buy some parts. They would NOT give me the 10% or 15% discount they promised with the HOG membership because I did not have my membership card yet. So I went home and ordered a little over $1000 worth from Zanotti (20%, same as Chicago HD). Now I keep getting letters from that HOG chapter to remind me I haven't picked up my membership card. Wonder how many other cards have not been collected? F*ck em all to hell, I say. I won't even give them my warranty repairs.

I have bought from Chicago HD but usually get better deal and service from Zanotti Motors in PA. I usually check the prices on each of them and generally go with Zanotti because of the superior service/shipping/price in that order.

Accessories $50 or over, I mail order thru Chicago.

Necessities that cannot wait, or cheaper items, I go thru my dealer.
