my dealer is giving me 15% off anything i buy upfront with the bike, a 15% coupon to use in the future, and that is the extent of it. I will be ordering my parts online from here on out. 20% is 20%. for eery grand spent (which is wayyy too easy to do in this hobby/sport) that is $200 in savings, which is more parts! my dealer was kind of salty when i told them about buying the stuff online, but if they don't want to price match, that is their call.
what thkey do is just order it from h.d. so they don`t have to stock anything they make about 30% off of the 20%off so its a great tool, they have knothing invested but a computer guy typing

Most of my local dealers don't seem to stock that much stuff, so they are basically doing the same thing, BUT with no savings for me!
I always get, "Well we ordered yesterday and won't order again 'till Thursday...and it takes about a week to get here...we'll call you when it gets in.".
I can just stay home, order parts in my underwear and have it in 3 days...AND save money to boot!

And then you are lucky if they call you to let you know what you ordered is in....
It DOES seem ridiculas that in thisday and age ALL HD Dealers do NOT have pick, pack and ship capabilites. All have websitesand as HDbeerman said - that's revenue hey would not get. Free money. Hell even if they hired sombody, I'd have to think the operation would make $$$$. Most times I go to the local dealers here, the parts guys are standing around playing switch. They are rarely busy and they usually have 4-5 HD Babes doing the same in the clothes section. They can't fill the web-based orders?? As for matching the 20% off on walk ups, it's gotta be an ego thing or they must figure we'll pay the MSRP since we are there...
Recently ordered saddlebags, light relocation kit, and jack adapters for Dyna lowrider with shipping the whole package was less than the cost of just the saddlebags locally, saved about $150 dollars. If using their toll free number ask for Steve, great service and knowledgable!
I do all of my business at an Indy shop, and he gets me HD parts at 10% off. Gets them pretty quick too. The dealer is less than 2 miles away and they do not do discounts. I do buy a lot of parts on Ebay if I don't want them in a hurry.
Took the Pepsi Challenge and ordered rear LED lightedblinker mounts. From email order to door was 4 days. Orderded Monday 3:00 PM and UPS delivered 5:00PM today.
Saved 20% and the shipping was a wash with the state tax I would have paid locally.
This also because NO local Dealer (checked three in Atlanta area) had them in stock. They all had to order - 5-7 days. All wanted MSRP andI asked for adiscount or if anyspecials were going on - no luck.
I'll use them again... dd
