low mileage scoot
I know this will be hard to believe but since my other scoot was stolen in March I have gotten a settlement and found a 2000 Road King Classic with only 6,600 miles on it. It has the original tires and I believe the original brake pads. I jumped on the deal and have replaced the tires, brake pads and one air shock. Runs good, just a couple of things I need help with. When I turn the ignition switch there is a high pitched shrill sound that starts and then stops. When I start the engine it comes on again and will stay one. It had done this two or three times in the past 2-3 weeks. It is starting to worry me. Also sometimes when I have to stop quick it seems as though something in the front end rattles that I can't seem to locate. Any help would be appreciated.

RE: low mileage scoot
As to rattle; I had a 03 softail that did that. I took the pads off and discovered that on the plate, the little mushroom shaped rivet that goes into one of any of the 3 little notched on the return had been smashed and was not staying with the return. Also, the clip that holds the pad in the bracketmay be on wrong. That would cause the pad to rattle. Check schematic and look at itfrom a not too sophistacated engineer's perspective. HD brakesare pretty simple (as are most disks).
