Default Bluetooth Intercom Question

General question first: Are they all worthless without a full face helmet? Is the wind noise going to drown out everything we say anyway?

That being said does anyone have any exerience with the blue ant interphone? All of the research I have done says that set up is the best to integrate cell phone and bike to bike communications.

But as above I ride mostly without a helmet or with a 3/4 helmet, Is it worthless because of the wind noise. My girl and I ride seperate and on the same bike and are looking for a bluetooth system.

Open mic ones are pretty much useless unless the mic is behind a full-face helmet, even with the foam cover. I used a throat mic once that worked pretty well on a bike. It had an elastic band that velcro'd around the neck. The mic element sits directly against the throat. They're common in the military. Here's one.

Check these. The research I've been doing on line indicates that they seem to be very capable units.

I have a Scala BT mic set. It came with my TomTom Rider2. It's a great piece, but the wind noise with a 3/4 helmet renders it unusable to the listener on the other end.

No phone for me while I'm riding, thanks...a lot of bikers rant against drivers doing that...no difference...

I understand you completely Night Train. I am really only interested in bike to bike communication.

The Scala Rider seems like a good system,( Phone and rider to passanger ),and I have heard that the AutoComm is the best, ( Guaranteed clear voice to 180 mph or something like that ). Plus with the autocomm you can add up to 4 peripherals depending on the one you buy.
