Default Blue Burnt Pipes

I bought a new 2008 Harley Davidson Ultra-Classic on March 31, 2008 from Adamec Harley Davidson in Jacksonville, Florida.&nbsp\\; The engine was bored out to 103 CI, and I appreciate the extra power.&nbsp\\; However, the heat from the engine and pipes is unbelievable, and the right side chrome muffler pipe&nbsp\\;is burnt blue near the end of of the muffler.&nbsp\\; The dealership told me when I bought the bike that since they bore out the engine that they would be responsible for any problems that came up, and I did buy the 5 year extended warranty.&nbsp\\; When I returned from a road trip around the country I asked the dealership about the discoloration, they said it's normal on some bikes, and suggested I could buy a new chrome cover for it.&nbsp\\; I'm not sure, but according to some friends the dealership should be responsible for replacing the burnt pipes and for finding a way to cool the engine a little.&nbsp\\; Any suggestions?

The days of none blue pipes are gone forever. Thank God for heat shields to cover the mess up.

Does your bike have a fuel management system like the SERT? If not, get one to get rid of the lean condition.

Depending on the amount of blueing, it could be normal or it could be mixed a little lean.&nbsp\\; The twin cams run hotter than the older big twins did, so that can make it a little more difficult to avoid blueing.&nbsp\\; Check your fuel mixture though.&nbsp\\; Did you get it dyno tuned after the engine build?&nbsp\\; If so, then the mixture ought to be pretty good.&nbsp\\; If not, then I would reccomend getting a good tune done.&nbsp\\; If the blueing turns out to be the result of an improper tune, when the dealership was paid to&nbsp\\;do it, then I'd say you deserve some new pipes.

All Harley Davidson service writers are programmed (from the factory) to say " it ain't covered". Here's a picture of mine. I have the SE a/c and the Harley Stage 1 download, and the bike runs flawlessly, with minimal heat. My plugs (after 10,000 miles) are a light tan, indicating a perfect fuel/air ratio. What heat shields are being refered to?

Character..........yes. I'm going with that also. BTW, I checked the heat shields and found that they do not fit the one piece slip-ons. Typical Harley! If you&nbsp\\; want the slip-ons that do not discolor, it'll cost ya another c-note.
