Hi there...I bought an 08 Heritage Softtail last year, and had Rush pipes put on it a couple of weeks after I got it home. Now I have the bluing on the pipes. What should I do? I was told to take it to the dealership and they would contact the Rush Co., and they would most likely replace them, and also have the dealership change up the calliber on the bike...
But that will just continue to happen over and over them right? You don't think I need to change anything on the bike at all?
Most decent pipes have heat shields that will not turn blue from the heat.
If yours did, then the manufacturer should replace them or refund your money so that you can get pipes that will not blue.
You shouldn't have to clean them...
You may want a fuel management system to keep the bike running cooler, but pipes should be able to handle the temp
of a factory tuned motor (in my opinion)
I'm not sure what you mean by changing the caliber...
If the dealership is willing to replace your Rush setup at no cost to you, you cannot go wrong with new.
Apparently, it is possible to reduce the amount of discoloration by a perfectly tuned engine. Heat, however, seems to always win over time. Aftermarket product quality has an impact here too but it seems to only slow the appearance of heat and time.
The actual pipes will blue, but the heat shields/mufflers should not. Did you get slip-ons? If so the slip-on's should not be blueing either, and they should replace them. But if the actual exhaust pipe its self is blueing and they want to replace it then go for it. That would be a pretty sweet deal.

Is that all U did, no Stg 1,
U can run with pipes only but Ur still EPA lean and R going to be lean on the A/F rate.
I put the Rush at the same time as Stg1 and they still look new after 21k, normal ride is 1 1/2 to 4hrs long.
That might be problem, or if U did do stg1 one then something is wrong.
I think I answered this question in another post..
If you replaced the mufllers with Rush slip-ons or any other high flow muffler and you replaced the A/C with a high flow breather kit and you did not either remap the factory ECU or added an after market fuel management unit, you WILL run lean and turn your pipes and possibly your mufflers blue. Another thing you may consider is that stock mufflers have shields and Rush slip-on's I don't believe do. This means you can see the blueing due to no shields on the mufflers.
