Default Changing pipes

I just picked up my new 08 road king, and I'm wondering is re mapping the computer for pipes really that important? If it is, is their a way to get it done without spending 500 bucks? I mean I know it dosen't pay to be cheap but come on.

If you are only doing slip-on pipes, you don't have to re-map. I put Bub 7 slip-ons on my 09 Ultra. No re-map and stock air cleaner. Bike runs great.

If you're still using the stock head pipes, you'll never notice it. It will all be behind your heat shields.

If you're really worried about it and don't want to spend dealer money, find a good independent (indy) bike shop. Should save you some money, especially if you have them do other work too.

Default pipes

No matter what is said if you change pipes alone you will make a very lean bike run leaner due to the free flowing pipes. Leaner = hotter.
