Default Glove care??

So I have a pair of leather gauntlet gloves. They have armor in them so I can't turn them inside out. Is there something that I should treat the inside with to keep bacteria out etc? Thing is when I wear the for long rides one finger and space between on one hand seems to get irritated and dried out. This happened with other gloves so I'm guessing its because they get dirty etc. Any ideas of creams or anti bacterial stuff that you can work into them inside and not have a slimy residue after?

thanks

Rob

After long rides one finger on one hand gets irritated and dried out??

Might be time to change from the one finger salute to the biker wave.

Wash out the inside of the gloves with a mild soap and water and let them dry at room temperature. Or do like Rick suggested and wash your hands.

I switched from cowhide to deerskin gloves. Deerskin is totally washable.

I use Zymol leather cleaner and conditioner on the outside and you can spray a disinfectant on the inside. If you are really concerned take a swab of the inside of the glove and put it in a petrie dish. You'll likely be very surprised what actually grows.

Used conditioner on the outside, never tried disinfecting them. Just odd that my hands, either one, get dried out on only one or two fingers and had the same thing happen with old gloves. Have to try something for inside.

My favorite gloves to wear are the deerskin work gloves that I buy from the hardware store for about $18 bucks or so. The down side is that they're so bright that it's distracting when they're new. I'm thinking about buying several pair and dyeing them black to get rid of the bright color.
