Thumbs up Engine Missing

I have a 2000 model Electra Glide Ultra Classic fuel injected. Recently when i start it up it starts missing and almost dies, even when i start riding it misses for a few minutes then it smoothes out. Do you think i might need to change my plugs? or do you think it might be the injectors are dirty? Please Help.

Thanks for your input!!

Oh jeez, from the subject I thought someone stole your engine.

But I'm not fluent in gearhead speak.

W/O being there to see it and hear it.
Go ahead, and change the plugs out, peshally if you know it's been a while. I don't believe it is the 'root' of your prob, but will eliminate a 'possible' link.
Get yourself a can of SeaFoam, put in about 1/4 can, for a tank full of gas. Do this for 2 or 3 tanks, BEFORE you go messing with the EFI. Don't overdo it, too much is worse than none.
OR Gunk Fuel Injector Cleaner will also clean it up some. IMHO, the other 'Fix It" fuel injector cleaners, are 'junk'.
But I am a SeaFoam kinda guy.
Last year, for whatever reason, which we believe was REAL chitty gas, we did a chit pot full of carbs, like we have never done before. And invariably, there was this light green 'slime' in the bottom of the float bowl. Clean it out with carb cleaner, jets and all, throw it back together, work like a champ. So far, this spring, NONE. But then, we haven't started riding up here, just yet.

That's my 'suggestion', anywho.

I think you can rule dirty injectors. Think about it....They don't get any cleaner as the bike gets warmer.

First change the plugs and see what happens.

My question is is the bike idling slow when you first start it up or is it at "fast idle" like it should be? If it is idling slow, they your fast idle actuator has likely gone bad...mine did twice on my 2000...If it is idling slow, crack the throttle just a smidge with your tensioner and let it warm up.....After the second time my acutator went bad, I did not replace it. I just crack the throttle and set it on cold starts.

Listen to Gump. Anti-seize your new plugs before you put them in. You don't give enough information on what you have or haven't done. When you rode last. Whether you changed anything before you posted. Etc,etc, etc. Could be something as simple as plugs, wires or fuel--what you bought or how long it has sat. Could be something more from fuel filter to injectors. If I had to pick I would look at plugs first.

Thanks for all your input and suggestions!!
I recently rode it on Saturday and Sunday about 500 miles and everything was perfect.
When i started it up on Monday afternoon to go to a friends house is when it all started.
When i start it up it idles fast for a few seconds and then idles down to the correct idle but when i went about 1 tenth of a mile to the stop sign is when it started missing. I took off from the stop sign and it missed pretty bad and then i was at a cruising speed of thirty through the subdivision and it seemed fine.

Hope this helps on more details.
Thanks again!!

I would change the plugs anyway---they are cheap. Use the anti-seize. I suspect fuel or filter at this point with your information. The sea foam is still what I would do after plugs. Ride it than see what happens. Jmo.

Plugs wires is a good start. Also a fuel filter change may be in order.
