Default New HOG Rally Proposed for N. Myrtle Beach

http://www.charlotteobserver.com/top...y/1116484.html

Thought this was an interesting comment...

The event would be aimed at the 10,000-person Harley Owners Group, which Worley said was much smaller than the traditional Myrtle Beach rally and a different group of bikers.

"You're not going to have Jello wrestling or bikini bike washes," Lazarus said.

They ran the rally out of Myrtle Beach.

Bikers struck back with a boycott. The boycott is working and Myrtle Beach has raised taxes and fees. The local politicians are feeling the heat from it.

Now HOG is thinking about going in and undercutting that grassroots effort.

Don't do it HOG, go someplace else!

WHAT?! Which HOG chapter has 10,000 bikers that don't like Jello wrestling or bikini bike washes?

If it's the national, they can send me a refund!

Soooooo, am I to assume HOG members ride quieter bikes, drink less alcohol, are not interested in jello wrestling or bikini bike washes and will conform to a very quiet event while spending tons of money? Man, I'm glad I didn't renew when my time was up. Hey, maybe it's the 1%er HOG members that are causing the problems? I read a lot of stuff about them guys in another thread .........

It don't sound like it would be very much fun to me.

I only live 2 hours from Myrtle Beach and have ridden down there several times in the past just to eat lunch and visit a few stores and come home with the "crowd" I led down there. We always spent a few dollars and were never a drain on their municipal services (never needed the police, fire or rescue). There were also times we rented rooms and stayed a while - so every visit wasn't always a day trip.

We ALL found other places to go. It really wasn't that big an issue anyway. BTW, none of us are HOG members.

Let's let Myrtle Beach wallow in their victory (and losses) as a sure-fire indication to other towns that may be trying to decide to follow the anti-biker trend.

I'm aware that this proposed rally site is in North Myrtle Beach and not in Myrtle Beach - but I'm not taking a chance on crossing some boundary line!!!

HOG should not do this, imo. myrtle showed us they didn't want bikers, so we should reciprocate and let them have what they want.

we can always find somewhere else that doesn't mind a little 'horseplay' for a huge boost in their economy.

Places like Muskegon Michigan are starting to get there bike week going, gets bigger every year. I figure if Myrtle Beach and places like it dont want my money, F**k em, I will spend it in places like Muskegon, who bend over to make you feel welcome. HOG really should stay away from places that have already shown themselves to be anti biker.
