Not so; a '77 has a frame VIN, and it will match the engine serial number if it still has the original engine.

Years back I heard something about a "builders title", What do folks do that build a bike from scratch? Wouldn't think you would have a problem with a title, unless its hot. And btw, would but it in a heartbeat!!!
