Study your Service Manual.
Get your Synthetic Oil, either in the Jug or the Quarts. Use whatever Brand your ok with. Me? Mobil1. Others? Whatever and you'll hear a story a thousand miles long about Brands.
Get a Harley Brand Oil Filter.
Changing your Oil below, be sure to get a fresh new Oil O-Ring
Change the Oil Filter FIRST, then you drain it.
Get a long Oil Filter Funnel, it helps.
And a Jaw, Side Grip Oil Filter Wrench. Those multi faceted wrenches
such monkey butt.
Most important-Study the Service Manual and lay your stuff out, so you know what you have and what your short.

I can't find the thread....I went to the local dealership to get the oils, filter, and o-rings to change the fluids in my new-to-me 95. I drained the oil...changed the filter and drove it for about a week....
I put 3 quarts and it's showing overfilled.
There was a thread somewhere that was talking about the dealerships selling lesser/greater micron-rated filters for Evos and it causing this problem.
If someone could direct me there it would be appreciated, as well as any more advice.
Thanks

Get a turkey baster from the grocery store and suck some of that oil out.
I take it that you have a softail? They are good for draining some back to the case while parked, and they also don't take a full 3 qts when drained.
I think starting with the 09's, they hold 1/2 qt more than they used to.
