Speaking of PD motors I had a unique item I saw. When walking the line in York a few months ago I saw the motor / clutch assembly area and there was ONE box on the site that had POLICE clutch marked on it. I asked the person giving the tour and he said PD bikes get a clutch that is different then the normal line machine. Due to heavy use it is a ,,, yes,,, heavy duty Harley clutch. Interesting!

Depends on the maintenance that they received. Keep in mind that they were ridden by folks who didn't have to pay for any damage they did to the bike. Just me being a pessimist...

I just bought a '96 cop bike last month. I have a post in the evo section about it. It had a hard life and now I'm piecing it back together. I runs great just needed some tlc. Lots of scratches on the crash bars, mufflers and everything was loose. The only part missing was the front fender skirt. After selling my '03 ultra, it's nice to have a bike I like and not having to be **** about keeping it clean and freaking out over every new scratch.One thing I really like is it hasn't been lowered, as I'm tall and don't care for a low seating position. It's probably the most comfortable seat I've ever had. Just dropped it off for a new set of tires so it will be ready for the start of Polar Bear season. I have the heated gloves ready just need some soft lowers. The bike is just cool due to it's former history as a Jersey City cop bike. I named it the "Road Warrior" because it looks like one.,,

My Harley will run away from stock Warriors, but it took $$$$ of engine work to make that possible.
BTW, not meaning to hijack thread. I absolutely LOVE Police Road Kings and am drooling frequently at my local dealer whenever they have a batch for sale.

I had a 1999 Police RK and a 2003 Electaglide. Got both bikes for less than $13,000 with around 5000 on the odometer. Both were great bikes, I put over 70,000 on both of them and never really had any trouble.

A buddy of mine was motorcop and a motorcop instructor.
He says that if his police bike got dropped on its side, they can straddle it, put it in gear, and ride it while it's tipped over on the crash bar until it's going fast enough to right itself with the handlebars.
He suggested I not try that on my personal bike, though.

While it looks like that's been done on my bike before from the looks of the crash bars, I'm not going to try it.,,
