Default A wreck rant!

Me and 3 buddies took off last Friday to go to the rally in New Braunfels , Tx. On the way my bud took a corner too fast and wrecked his bike. Luckily , he slid off the back and was not hurt (at all) , but the bike did several flips and is probably going to be totalled. It was a sweet bike too. We spent about 2 hours in the bar ditch bending out handlebars , fenders, floorboards and the engine guard. We zip tied the license plate back on and road it the 40 miles we had left to get to the rally. All of the lights were ripped off or broken beyond barditch repair.
The problem I have is that during those 2 hours about 50 bikes went by and not one person stopped. It was clearly evident that we had had a wreck . Some of the guys looked me in the eye and gave me the "what's up nod". Hell, 20 cars went by and they didn't stop either. We were extremely lucky in that there were no injuries and we did get it back to "rideable". But that last 40 miles we didn't get over 30mph bcause the handlebars were so twisted. This was at noon on Fm 473 just west of Hwy 281, South of Luckenbach. To the 50 BIKERS that went by, thanks for all the help.

Yeah, that kinda sucks and frustrating when no one will stop. If there was a decent-sized group of you guys and you're all up and walking around, maybe they thought you had things covered. Not sure though.

As far as your buddy's bike, sorry to hear that it was totaled. Glad he came out of it OK though.

Sorry about the accident, glad your friend is ok. Sorry to tell you this but if I saw four grown men working on a wrecked bike on the side of the road I would not stop either. One guy by himself and I stop every time.
Did you guys even need help?

That could be the case. When I see a lone person, I'll stop. If there are a few, one of them is sure to have a cell?

I stopped last week for a ricer. On side of road fiddlin with his back pack. By the time I got stopped I was trying to see if it was too far back to ride against traffic in the shoulder. The guy on the ricer began to wave, high in the air. I took it as him sayin.. "I'm OK! THANKS!". So, I rode on.

Since then, I've wondered if I had mistaken his wave, and if maybe he was just excited and glad some one did stop. Sometimes it is a hard choice to make...

Sorry to hear about your experience ENGINE5, hope all goes well for your friend. Riding by, I probably would have assumed that the rest of you had just stop to help a lone rider or a buddy, like shopewell said thinking you all had things covered. Having an accident scene flooded with several people/bikers might create even more kaos. I do understand your complaint & will look at that situation differently from now on. Thanks for posting this.

1st and most important......your buddy is ok! However, I suspect that the bikers that didn't stop probably figured that with 3 other bikers already on the scene, your friend standing, and with all the cell phones available, that you already had the situation at hand.

While I always stop for a lone biker on the roadside, I doubt I would have stopped in the situation you described. Four grown men can usually take care of any problem that they may have.

iam with the rest of the guys if i was on my bike and there were already 4 of you on the side of the road i wouldn't stop i would figure you had it all under control. Now if i was in my truck and or pulling a trailer and saw you had 4 guys and an obviously crashed out bike i would pull over and offer to help you get the bike home on the truck or trailer but being on my bike and 4 of you already on the road nothing i could have done that you guys werent already doing.

+1. Did you expect 50 people to stop to see if 4 grown men walking around working on a bike were ok? If you see 4, you assume it's covered. If it is not, I am sure one of the 4 would be waiving someone down. If it is 1 or 2 people, yes, I'd stop. 4? Really?
