Yeah, i guess you all have a point. There was four of us standing. There was no cell phone service , and I guess I was expecting someone to stop and offer to ride up the rode and call for us if we needed them to.
I would have stoped bro. I know there are lots of out-o-towners here at the beach who (when on the side of the road) may need some local 411 for a fix and I also carry tools that could help and am kind of handy. Not a rush rush kind of guy so don't mind helping out if I can. Most the time I slow way down and look for the thumbs up, if I get it I just keep on rollin. A lot of the time it's just someone taking a phone call? http://www.cochisechops.com/

I have stopped so many times for bikes and caggers just to find some one using the phone, mom breast feeding, looking for something they dropped. I don't stop unless I see some indication of distress, and wouldn't have stopped with that many people walking around.
I always stop also because I carry alot of crap that most would not.I had a guy last year mail me the shift lever I gave him on the side of the road with about five other riders.Gave him the po box number from work, just in case he was not legit.I was surprised to get it back.
. We spent about 2 hours in the bar ditch bending out handlebars , fenders, floorboards and the engine guard. We zip tied the license plate back on and road it the 40 miles we had left to get to the rally. All of the lights were ripped off or broken beyond barditch repair.
What is a "barditch"? I would have stopped if I could see that the bike had been wrecked. But if there were 4 of you, and the bike was upright, it might not have been so obvious as to what the situation was.
Glad no one was hurt, hope it stays between the lines next time.
If four can't handle it...50 more ain't gonna do any good. The only time I stop if there's that many bikes on the side of the road, is when I'm in my truck, 'cause I figure I might be able to haul someone somewhere.

Would have figured one of you would have already ridden ahead and called if it was an emergency.
Four guys, four bikes, one bike wrecked but all riders are up and moving around trying to fix the bike up, I would probably stop to see if maybe i have a tool or something they needed but didnt have, and then moved on if there was nothing i could do for them. I always stop when i see a bike on the side of the road in trouble, but at the same time, if i see plenty of people already there, im might just cruise on by figuring they surely have things under control.
Im glad your buddy is ok, im sorry to hear about his bike, but im even more sorry you felt that every biker should be obligated to stop, nevermind the fact that 4 bikers was up, and 4 bikes present, there does come a point when you have plenty of people helping and more is too many. In fact there comes a point where, if every bike stopped to check on you, it sets the stage for another accident that could turn out worse. imagine a cage coming along, rubber necking, runs over someone and kills them.
I would think that in your situation, if more help was needed, one of you at least would try to wave down more help.

If I see a guy who looks stranded I stop. If I saw a group of guys I too would figure the situation is handled. If I were riding along in my pick up and saw a bike with maybe a piece of cloth or t-shirt hanging from the handlebar I would stop to see if it's broken down.

It's not that I feel like every biker that came by was obligated to stop and help, but slow down to get a thumbs up from us would be nice. Hell, in Texas people stop and help each other for a lot less all the time. And your'e right, if we had really needed help we could have flagged someone down and I'm sure they would have stopped. Just stumps me that nobody slowed down enough to find out if we were ok or not.
