Hello everyone,
I'm new here, I just bought my first Harley, and for the life of me I can not find a helmet that I like.
What's everyones opinion on the best helmet out there. I want a half shell, but all the new half shell helmets look retarded. There's so much padding in the sides it just looks like a big dick on top of your head.
I know I have seen guys riding with half shell's that fit close to the head, but for the life of me I can't find one that's dot approved. I've looked at every Harley dealer close to me with no luck.
So please let's hear some opinions. If you have pics of your helmet, and how it fits I'd love to see it.
Oh, and just in case you all want to see here's a pic of my first!!!!!
Welcome to the forum and hope you enjoy that Sporty! I have an HJC half helmet that's DOT approved and it's not too dorky looking IMO. I'm sure they have a website you can find on google.
I tried on a new HD hybrid last weekend and it wasn't too bad looking. Light as all get out. I imagine I will find it somewhere made by the true manufacturer for half the cost and buy one.
For now I just stick with my old HJC when in a helmet state.
If it says DOT you look like A dork no way around it IMHO
That's what I'm finding. Every DOT 1/2 helmet I've seen looks like chit. I have a full face I got with my old rice burner, but would like something a bit more stylish for week end cruises on the new bike.
Welcome to the forum. If you might consider a 3/4 check out the retro, new Bell Custom 500. We just bought two of them! Dot approved and not like the other bulky types, fiberglass, also.
Helmets are one of those things that has to be personal choice when it comes to finding the right one. I haven't found any better way than to be able to look at helmets and trying them on. Buying helmets sight unseen from the internet is pretty risky business unless you're very familiar with the brand.
