I think the Socialists are to busy screwing up the country to be concerned about this. It is not digital and unfortunatly it is about 15,000 more miles than my bike. So unless I can find a 17 year to figure it out or maybe someone here I guess I will pass. Bound to be another one.

is it possible to attach a drill to it to turn it?---and no i wouldnt turn it back further than what the mileage really is.If you bought the bike used it should state it on the title what the last known odometer reading was...thats just an fyi.Me personally i would put it back to what youre bike actually is...nothing more nothing less.

Not looking to change the mileage on the bike only want to change the new odometer to the true milage on the bike. Have no desire to do anything against my personal standards. It is digital!!

LateBloomer--Dont take what i said as being personal even though i can see how it sounded like that....just when dealing with odometers you always get people telling you to fk people over or they accuse you of trying to fk people over....what i said was just an generalized fyi..nothing more.--------ive never messed around with a digital one and i dont know exactly how it works but theres gotta be someway of doing it....someway of speeding up the count til you get back where you need to be.

Well it's not any law (big and/or scary) that would prevent me from doing it. I can see changing it so that it agrees with actual mileage, but running the clock back would probably only be done to try to fool someone. No other reason.

Don't get me wrong guys I in noway condone or support that kinda crap , I'm just stating what the reality of it all is . Being a wrench and dealing with used anything I learned long ago it was better to get educated on the shady side of the dirty tricks bag scammers & hustlers use so spotting bogus things got a lot easier and getting a handle on who is a player and who is legit got a whole lot easier . You can tell after knowing how things are done ask anyone in the LEO gang around here . It's how I've keep a clean house and keep a number of people from making expensive & possibly drastic legal mistakes over the years . I used to work the big swap meets out the in the midwest in the 70's & 80's if your not going to get burnt you better know the game .

Those cable driven types of speedos are long in the past. The newer ones are driven by a electrical imput. Do remember the younger days when I would unscrew it so dad didnt know how many miles I was putting on his car.

Worked as a dealer mech years ago. When the first digital odometer's came out and if you had to switch out the speedometer and or whole instrument panel you removed a little plug in chip from the back of the old IP and then plugged it in to the new IP so the mileage would read correct.

Then because too many people were screwing around trying to roll back the mileage the chip became built in and no longer could be removed.

I had a S 10 blazer with the digital IP. It went bad. Went to the dealer parts guy. He said bring in the IP and they send it out to the IP repair guy and he reads off the mileage and puts it into the exchange unit (rebuilt IP). This shows that a IP repair shop can set the odom any way they want.

They will need to see the original speedo to confirm the real mileage to reset your new unit.

You need to by pass the dealer and find out who repairs HD speedometer's and deal directly with them.

It was easy on the FXR....the fan turned 50 mph all the way to 32,000 miles.

+1, why worry about it.

Some vehicles have ECM's that count miles and needs to be close to the odo in the instrument cluster, but I don't think HD's do that.
