With on board electronics in modern bikes, I'd bet the mileage is in the ecm and will print out regardless of what the odometer says.

Had an Iranian real estate agent try to move a house across the street and it was in a bad position up against the entrance ramp of the freeway . Everybody on the block started getting fix it notices from the city for every little thing including cars parked without moving 3 days or more didn't matter if was legal or not Mr DuneCoon was calling it all in he thought if everything looked how he liked it the house would sell . Had big ford van my vet and the bike so I'd find a notice to tow and the chalk marks on the tires . I'd move it , not enough city said it had be driven 12 miles or more or they considered it abandoned and would tow , and I saw the meter gal looking the window at the odometer . Break out the makita and tape the trigger , when battery went I had 18 miles . played this game all summer til I cornered that ******* and set him straight .

I used to work the big swap meets out the in the midwest in the 70's & 80's if your not going to get burnt you better know the game .

You ran the odometer up just so you didn't get a parking ticket? Why didn't you just cover the odometer with electrical tape and wipe the chalk marks off the tires?

They certainly can be changed. This is just one company that can do it for you and it is perfectly legal. (Although this company does not do HD speedos.) It becomes illegal if you knowingly sell the vehicle without informing the buyer of the actual true mileage.

http://www.bluegauges.com/mileages.htm

I bought a tach / speedo combo for a RK from a discount reseller. It came with zero miles on it and the bike that I installed it on had 7k miles on it. In Minnesota there is a blank to fill in on the title if the milage shown on the speedo is not the true milage. I also had the buyer sign an acknowledgement of what the true milage was and I retained a copy for my records.

Was never threatened with a parking ticket it was always to be towed on the paperwork & citations Tinted the windows and got a ticket for that and if try to hide it like with tape or blocked they'll just call the tow truck as a have some of this play , only ended up adding a maybe 140 miles to a 210,000 mile van come on . I wasn't going the let the ******* bully me with that kind of bullshit so I pushed back passively .

It was he had entire street jumping through hoops took several of us going to a town hall meeting and raising hell to find out it was a real eastate agent complaining how all the low life's and the unkept property and vehicles where devaluing his property , the house was less than 80 feet from a major busy highway right on the ramp is why it wasn't selling . Didn't take long to find him after that damn Iranian and pushy bastard to . He had an open house so I had a kegger and invited some of the Oakland crew down same weekend , cornered him and told him no more bullshit no more biker parties deal ?
