I live out in the sticks and have a very slow dial-up connection( it's the only thing that is available out here unless I were to go with something through our satellite which is way to expensive) I usually connect at 26.4 to 28.8. Anyway, when ever I try to read a thread that has more than say 6-7 responses I get a pop up message on my screen that says internet explorer cannot open internet site operation aborted. Sometimes if I hit the refresh I can get the thread to come up but most of the time not. I read a number of different forums, not all bike related and I don't ahve this probelm on any of the other ones. It gets really frustrating not being able to read the threads here can someone HELP me. ( I also posted this under the forum issues section but thought more folks might see it here)
Being on a dial up, perhaps there are just to many pictures, and smileys, etc loading, that you eventually time out.
Did you go to "My profile" and check your speed settings?
You can choose not to load the smileys, pictures, and avatars on all the posts.
Just a thought
Right click internet explorer , properties, advanced , uncheck pictures , OK . This will shut off pictures for all internet use and also speed things up .
Go to the local tool and die supply store and tell the person behind the counter you want a "Screw Pitch Gage". It is used to measure threads. OK So I am a SA, trying some humor
I feel your pain. Up until 3 years ago I had dial-up. Then they finally put DSL down the road. Make sure you delete your files when you sign off. This should help some.
I've noticed that it only happens to me when the traffic on the hdforums site is high. That is why I'm on here now at 5:30 AM. In the mornings, I have NO problems...just at peak times.
