Been building my Harleys since the 60's.The last three were frame up builds, the 02 and 06 still own.Now building a Donovan all aluminum 427" sbc, with NASCA SB2 topend for a recently purchased Boss Hoss.My reason is mostly because of natural ability, know exactly what I want,a perfectionist and do not trust anybody.

+1 on that!!, I'm the same way. I do not make my own frames (although I could), I don't make fenders and don't have a "boring bar" to cut cylinders. I don't do powdercoat or chroming. Other than that I do everything myself. Nothing Pisses me off more than sending something "out" for one of these services and that part comes back not up to my expectations.

I've done a lot of customization to my bikes and now am working on my first ground up build. Warrior motor converted to right hand chain drive, 300 rear tire rigid frame, Vrod front wheel, sportbike forks... still a lot to do. It's a good learning experience.
