M/C protocol
You're not concerned about other people/riders on the road that have nothing to do with why you're carrying that **** around in the first place??
I remember a time when I got pelted by a ball bearing while riding (most likely kicked up by a vehicle)... left a nice impression in the chin bar of my helmet, and would have caused some serious damage to my face had I not been wearing a helmet.
If I witnessed someone pulling that **** I'd just figure that they were trying to assault me.... wouldn't bode well for them.

There was a trucker up in Ohio awhile back that was pitching taconite pellets( raw iron ore) out the window at cars with bright headlights on. It was his regular route and couldn't take the bright headlights anymore in the morning. They eventually caught the guy he got 6yrs and halted his truck driving career abruptly. I don't know a good solution but it's not worh prison if caught or worse if the assbag has a gun in the cage.
How do would you feel about another rider hanging at the back of your group at a respectful distance? I've often wondered about the protocol for that. I ASSume it would not be viewed as threatening to a group of riders, but I've resisted the urge to do it because I'm not certain and don't want to eat a face full of ball bearings.
I've passed entire groups on multi-lane roads. Never cut in and out. It seems some are humbled by this experience. Did your club stomp a mud hole in their **** or bi tch out? Inquiring minds want to know. I'm guessing the latter.
I trust some individuals. I do not trust life to always go as I expect it. I would hate to be the death of my brother because I ran over him because life didn't go the way I expected it. They are called accidents, not "on purposes", for a reason.
Your boss/Ride Captain might want to reconsider the security assignments, and put a grown-up in that position before you cause real damage.
I promise you that if I was assaulted on the highway in such a manner as you describe, I would respond with appropriate force to neutralize such a lethal threat to myself or other members or the general public...
Your club sounds like a bunch of *******, and besides I thought tough guys like yourself always carried a sawed off in the forks or steel pipes or something. Sounds like you got owned by some punk on a sport bike....and since you let it happen I am sure it will happen again.
Yeah 3 foot hearing that I don't think using the word security is appropriate more like... Play stupid games win stupid prizes...
Riding tight looks cool until something happens and half your club is being run over by cagers unable to avoid the spinning bikes and bodies.
I am not a club guy never will be but... The OP had a plausible story and a genuine question. I don't think anything is wrong with the thread just some of the ridiculous responses.
However, I will say I have had cagers right on my *** before. I see absolutely nothing wrong with letting a ball better or a 1 inch nut fall out of a pocket.
I had a moron decide she was allowed to lane share with me the other day and not knowing WTF she was doing I almost went in to the traffic to the side of me. If a cager is putting you in a dangerous situation on purpose it is time to escalate.
Don't like it? tough ****.
