Default M/C protocol

My club was coming back from WACO Sunday,on I-35, when two indies hit the on ramp, one ricer, and one HD.
We’re running 80, side by side, and the indies tried to break formation.
The ricer jumped in and out of the formation numberus times.
I know most of you know this, BUT it’s a big NO NO……RIGHT?

Some people are just plain stupid.
Could be inexperience, immaturity, lack of intelligence, lack of respect or all of the above.

I thought it was pretty much common knowledge, you don't break formation with any group especially a M/C.

Just newbs that don't know protocol...Not defending them, just saying we all had to learn one way or the other. I'm sure you and your boys made it clear that what they were doing was unacceptable. Good thread though...maybe it will inform some of the newbs here of the "rules of the Road", and help keep them from doing stupid **** without having to learn the hard way... a beatdown, or a wreck.

Ride on...

Never seen a bike of any brand do that around here unless they are being waved through. It's just plain rude to do it, not to mention the potential for carnage.

Most of the time I see this sorta thing it is usually cagers just being impatient A holes. Had a guy on the highway the other day speed up halfway along a convoy of bikes then indicated right and barged through the convoy to get to the exit. POS coulda waited behind for 6 seconds and not caused a hassle for anyone.

I totally understand where you're coming from.

I'm not baggin' on you but how tight do y'all run?

I know we are not allowed more than 3 feet off the guy in front of us(I learned this the hard way...)

Did he start in the way back and run down the middle?

You guys run 2 abreast right?

In our packs I always run in the back....

It's my job you could say to protect the rest of the brothers from stuff like that as well as lane changes... I am the shield.

I know I have been told specifically if something like that were to ever happen just start kicking!

The worst I have ever seen while we were running was a cager trying to tailgate us( I swear he was within INCHES of my rear tire).

I accidentally dropped a handful of ball bearings, nuts and screws and they got the picture.

Again no disrespect but we look at it from a security perspective. We always run in the #1 (fast) lane and keep that **** tight as possible. I know each club is a bit different and we all ride a little different but my boss feels that it's safer for everyone involved if you ride tight.

It would be interesting to know what the traffic laws are in regards to groups of motorists, whether they be motorcycles or semi's.

On my bagger one day, I got stuck on a two lane highway behind a group of about 25-30. Not sure what was going on in the front, but the back was doing what I call the rubberband effect (speed up, slow down, speed up, etc.). All this was taking place at about 45-50 mph. After about 15 miles, I finally saw what looked like enough room, and passed the entire club. Really kicked it in the *** so I wouldn't be in the oncoming lane for too long, and was doing well over 100 when I went around the lead bikes. They probably thought I was a jerk. Whatever.

Another time, on a four lane, a group started to pass me on the left. They got as far as half of the group, and then stayed in the passing lane for 30 miles, boxing me in behind another car that we came up on. I couldn't pass because they were in the way.

Seems to me, the groups need to work on their own formation sometimes. I know of maybe 1 or 2 individuals that I would trust to ride within 3 feet of them. It's not bright.
