Not hard at all. The only hard part will be . Getting the bugs out of your teeth. Because
You'll be smiling all the time.

Many of us have noticed that you get a much better connection with your Harley than with Asian bikes. You really bond, and relate to your Harley on a different level, than with a Honda.
Most of us have shared your anxiety about swing your leg over a big American bike, but you also most likely will understand pretty quickly why owners have such a strong emotional bond with their Harleys that never develop with a typical UJM.

Enjoy your demo rides. Take some time to speak with other riders, and notice the camadery that quickly develops with Harley riders.

I went from a v star 650 to an 88 inch deluxe. Took some getting used to but not bad at all. Friction zone on mine was much different so I stalled a couple times at first and took off really fast a couple times. After two rides getting back on the v star felt weird.

I never had a dip-sh*t grin plastered across my face when I pulled out to pass on my V Star. Actually I never pulled out to pass on my V Star...

I went from a 2004 Shadow aero to a 06 EGC, and to tell the truth if I didn`t move I probably never would have been looking for another bike.

I ended up moving off the island into the mountians so I found that the Shadow was no fun to drive at speeds over 100kph.

the biggest difference is the EGC has more power, smoother ride (but that was to be expected going from a cruzer to a touring) less stable at slow speeds (but still very respectable for a bigger bike) but way more stable at hiway speeds. and the EGC is much more comfertable to ride (even if it does feel like your sitting in a moped, but this is only because of going from the laid back cruzer position to the more upright position of the touring, plus the front ferring.)

but overall I am glad I got the egc, even if it is been in the shop twice in the year I have owned it, compared to no times in 7 years for the Shadow.

I think this is the best answer yet and truly goes to the heart of the matter.

My wife went fron her shadow to a heritage. Of course I get to ride them too. You'll notice that 200 lbs but in a positive way, like going down the interstate. You're not going to get tossed around by the wind as easily. Also, you'll love the bigger front tire depending on what you get, the bigger the front tire the better the ride.

I have a '09 Shadow Spirit 750 in the garage. I bought it so my son could ride with me out to Sturgis. I can't ride it more than 100 miles. Just feels really cramped and very low on power compared to my softail.

I went from a 650 to my heritage. Once you get past the mental of "heavy bike", as others have said, it handles quite easy and the wind on the highway is no longer a bother. ( I still dont like the turbulence behind an 18 wheeler... just a nuisance)
