Called the Model TA, only 18 were produced for the military in 1941. Powered by and 68ci Knucklhead motor which connected to a beefed up three speed transmission with reverse. From the transmission a shaft drive connected to the Dana 44 rear end. Seems like it would have been a great upgrade for the servi-car...

Doesn't sound like an upgrade
"The first TA's were plagued with a number of problems including poor handling, extreme vibration and multiple oil leaks. Harley's engineers were able to fix these problems and received approval from the Army to put the TA into production, but in the end, only 18 TA's were built. Of those, two were prototypes and the other 16 production models."
Sometimes there is a reason certain things are rare.

Nope, just pointing out that people at Harley knew more about these than what is on that web page and chose not to use these "great upgrades" during another 30 years of production.
I'll also get a kick out of people who thing the Nova project was all good. But the MOCO chose not to resurrect it when they decided to have a liquid cooled bike.

I think I came across some information that said it was very expensive to produce and that's why it didn't go into production for the civilian market. Information on a lot of these limited production models from WWII is pretty spotty, so who knows if that is the case or not.
