Default 8" PullBack Risers

I just bought a 2004 Softail Standard. Everything is stock except for the exhaust. I have a set of 8" Pullback Grooved Risers on it's way to my home, as we speak, because the stock position sets a bit too low for my frame and arm position. The web-site said I could continue to use the stock cables. Do you think this is accurate? Does anyone have any tips for me before I begin my install tonight? It seems pretty straight forward but I don't want to assume anything and make a mistake half way through. Thanks in advance to anyone who has advice.
