Default BUGS!

All this time I've been riding, I've never really encountered to many bugs till around dusk. Today around noon the wife and I took a 150 mile ride thru Illinois corn country. What a mess! I have no winshield, so about every 20-30 miles I had to stop and clean my glasses. My black bike now has a custom yellow splatter theme. Had a blast though! It's all part of the motorcycling experience.

Welcome to the club! Ask someone from south Louisiana or south Texas about Love Bugs.

You need to try it with a bat fairing on the front....aka Bug Smasher!

Front of my bike looks yellow every weekend until I clean it after riding all week!

Skip,

We did the love bug thing in Louisiana on our way back from the 100th Anniversary. What a mess. It took three washings to get all those things off the bikes. They are like grease. You wash them and they just smear instead of coming off.

Regards,

Bill

In all seriousness, the best way to clean bugs off the car or bike, or anything thing for that matter is to take a towel, soak it...and then let it sit on the affected area for about 5 or 10 minutes (one beer). The water breaks them up, and they wipe right off...

You guys ought to try North Dakota or Minnesota! You can't keep the darn thing clean if you get out of town at all.....

Must be nice in a place like southern california, where the bike never get's "wiped out" with bugs.....

You're right, bugs are a part of the experience. Around here in the country, it also depends on what is in the field that I am riding by as to how many bugs that hit me. Sometimes a lot, sometimes none. Enjoy the ride.

We call them "kamakazis" in my circle of riding buds... Kinda fitting, I think!
