Norco, does your location refers to Norco, La. near New Orleans? If so, there have been multiple reports today of Race Trac, Murphy and some Exxon gasoline customers having the same problem you describe. Reportedly there was some bad gas delivered to numerous stations from Baton Rouge to New Orleans.

+1 on the battery connections, as well as making sure that your battery is holding a good charge.

Since you were going at a pretty good speed when this happened, fuel supply/carb could be the problem, but a new set of spark plugs couldn't hurt and it's one of the cheapest things to do to eliminate the possible problem.

Had similar issue with my Nightster (08) as well. Was a loose battery cable.

If you try everything that is already mentiond and still have the issue, drain the tank and look for dirt or other junk that may be in there.......just don't use a match for light. ;-)

I changed my plug wires on my 07 Street Glide to some expensive performance ones. For some reason the computer didn't like them and kept throwing a code. My mech advised me to put the stock ones back on, I did and no more sputtering and cutting off.
