Default Starting issues

A buddy of mine has a street glide and when he his the starter all he gets is clicking. Assumed it was the battery because it was six years old. Put a new one in and still just getting the clicking. Any ideas?

Starter relay? A victim of the service bulletin on big twin starter fasteners?

Make sure the battery and ground cables are all clean and tight.

Sounds like a starter issue.

This is an easy fix. Could be anything from starter, to solenoid, to cables loose or dirty back to battery with a switch in between somewhere. Don't assume that anything is right without checking, cleaning and tightening till you get to the starter. Even it can be checked several different ways. I am always amazed when people ask this question. Follow the voltage is like following water in a pipe. Glad I grew up working on junk.

The first place to begin with a clicking starter issue is to measure your battery voltage (to the 1/10th of a volt) both at rest, and again with the start button pressed.

Use a digital volt meter and check for voltage drops between every connection.
