I have a 2005 Softail Deluxe. We were on Mt. Mitchell in N.C. when I made a wrong turn . So I deceided to make U turn ,but went just off the edge of the payment are there was about a 4" drop.My GF skinned her knee ,but she is fine.I got the bike back up and It seemed fine. When we got going again I knew I bent something when I put my feet on the highway pegs.I have heard that if the top bracket where the engine guard is mounted on is damage ,Harley would recommend to replace the frame. We went to a Harley shop in Cherakee N.C and a guy helped me bend my engine guard back.We rode for another 1000 miles or more thru N.C,Tn &Ga.Plus when I was riding the handlebars didn't look right.I guess I bent the bars when I picked up the bike.Replacing the bars won't be a big deal but what about the damage engine guard bracket?
You probably bent the engine guard, and now it throws everything else off visually. If you were barely moving I doubt you did any permanent damage to the frame. ,,
I went to visit a friend who lives on Mt mitchell a few years ago.His driveway was super steep and gravel. I made it up OK spinning my tire most of the way but going down you had to make a sharp 90* turn. After checking it out I loaded my Roadking on his trailer and had him take it down.
Yea,I know, the sissy thing to do.I live on a gravel road but this was really scary.
