Road King tach
Looking through tachs for my 2008 road king classic. Anyone aftermarket make a police RK looking tach that only uses 3 wires?
I need something that I can see at the drag strip, hard to find decent looking gauges especially with a shift light
Anyone have any pics of what they did??
Thanks!
Jake

Hi,
Just finished testing a Police Tach on my 09 RKC and it worked.
I had bought a Police tach (over a year ago) thinking that wiring will be sitting behind headlight ad it will be simple plug and play sort of thing but it was not. I did lots of search on google, hdforums and my dealer here in Canada but to no avail. In fact i remember reading a post that suggested that only 04 and older police tach will work and newer ones will not.
I tested a tach off a 09 police RK on to my RKC 09. I am talking about a tach with 6 wires and not 3. I will soon (once weather gets bit warmer) will do the final installation and post picture and steps.
for now if anyone is looking at doing it, 5 out of 6 wires will be used. One that is not being used, if connected, shows "P" in red colour (which I do not know what it stands for).
There is no PINK wire from ECU or under the dash however a Green and Violet wire is present with RPM signal, same colour coding is on Tach wiring. Orange is ignition, Brown is battery and orange white is accessory. it works
