Tach bouncing

Default Tach bouncing
when I hit 3K on the tach and above the needle go's bonkers but the motor doesn't , what can cause that ??? Its a 2002 XL 1200 sporty with 53K on her, that I bought about a month and a half ago. All is well till I hit the 3 K mark

Clean and tighten battery cables before doing anything else.

I have a after market tach that dose the same thing and a friend's factory tach also , I would not worry about it as long as the engine dose not miss

No engine is not missing or doing anything strange just the tach, I'll check the battery terminals . Thanks

Changed the coil out and that did the trick
