Default Decals

If I were to try having the stock tank and fender graphic decals replaced, could it be done without totally risking the paint job? I loe my gold, and want to scrap the orange decals (sorry, Vol fans) in favor of a more tasteful purple. Thoughts?

Default RE: Decals

Very, very doubtful. Maybe possible by someone who was good at color/wetsanding...but I really doubt it, and I'd hate to see the price quote.

Color coats are very rarely more than three coats. A tac coat, a base, and a final coat (minus pearls and heavly layered metallics). The clear is where pearls are suspended. Not sure how many coats HD puts on at the assembly line, but I think the decals are made to stay after attached to the base colors.

Good Luck on this one.
